I have a corporate life. I have a home life. I don't have a photographer life.
As a hobbyist photographer, camera choices are dictated by everyday life.
I place higher value smaller and lighter cameras, that still produce excellent images for the intended medium (i.e. printing, books or social media); I generally use gear for a long time (my oldest cameras are 13 and 9 years old); and I value the shooting experience over largely anything else.
Lastly, it's got to be fun.
